Backup not working under Wine

Bug Report:
The drive backup hangs at about 90%. The drive lights keep blinking, but never completes (half hour plus for a drive of about 1GB). Also the cancel button is grayed-out so users are forced the shut-down to safely remove USB drive.

Using PR2 on Mint Linux 10 (Ubuntu Maverick)
selecting entire drive w/ 7z, not maxed.
Seems OK on Win 7 though.

Wine is not perfect.

So you are using linux good choice but unfortunately wine is not perfect so your best option is to get vmware player, download tinyXP (a mini windows xp) and use that.

not legal

Microsoft would not approve of the non-cleanroom enginered tinyXP.

Of course, TinyXP is based on a pirated version of Windows so it’s completely illegal to use as the basis for any installation. Having said that, it’s also a remarkable example of what can be achieved thanks to the flexibility and modularity of the Windows platform, and it’s something which any administrator or enthusiast with a bit of time on their hands (OK, a LOT of time) can achieve.

Hm

I just tried it here (Ubuntu 11.04) and the app settings worked, but the "entire drive" failed. It reached the finish screen with an error message.
Looks like this needs more investigation.

And because wine is listed as compatible, pointing to VmWare isnt really an option. I know it should work under wine and if it doesnt, we need to get it fixed.

vmware using pirated OS

thats was my main point on the response is the person was recomending a pirated illegal copy of XP to be used as a virtual machine.

on top of that i have had little or no luck so far getting any of my thumb drives to work with virtualbox.
