Foxit IS

Foxit is portable.

Adobe Reader cannot be modified (it's illegal).

Foxit reader/PDF viewers

Pardon a dumb question - since Foxit is available for use on U3 can it be set up to work with the Portable Apps suite? Perhaps listed with the apps here? I've tried to add it to my Lite version but no success. Perhaps some instructions on how to add applications for us non experts could be posted?

Thanks,

Alice

Saw that material and tried

Saw that material and tried to add Foxit - tried both the U3 version and the regular download from Foxit's site - no joy. Not sure just what I'm doing wrong but a version of Foxit on your site set up with the right file extension and installer that would add it to the menu would be welcome. I'm using the lite version and a PDF viewer would be VERY useful. Perhaps a step by step "how to" on the site for adding stuff that would help us non geek type folks would be a good thing. Those of us who grew up prior to the "computer revolution" end up always playing "catch up" - what comes naturally to people who grew up with computers is often a daunting "new trick" for us older folks.

Thanks

There's a way

I have met that issue with regards to my Foxit, I have gotten around that problem quite simple, I don't why the suite "can't" read *.exe files in the root directory of portableApps, so what i did is create a folder from the root directory of the portableApps and placed the foxit executable file there, then refreshed my menu and then there it was. Please take note that there is a difference between the root directory of the device you're using and the directory PoratbleApps is using to store and organize it's applications, anyway doing so(creating a folder for foxit and placing it there) also allows me to organize my foxit updates, updates are saved in the same folder where foxit is... I hope this can help your dilema, please inform me if it already worked thanks.^_^

Try this...

Try using my Portable Edition Launcher. Since it's PAF compliant, it should work fine.

I saw what you wrote, and it

I saw what you wrote, and it looks like either the launcher does nothing, or you weren't using the launcher. Anyway, keys ending with \Software\Microsoft\Windows\ShellNoRoam\MUICache can't be avoided.

Or more likely Windows left

Or more likely Windows left a record of it in the registry.
Let me guess...
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\ShellNoRoam\MUICache?

He posted it here, but deleted it. I saw it before it was deleted. I left a comment on your board, too, but it's unrelated to this.

Foxit Frustration

Did some further work with the Foxit reader including trying the launcher posted in one of the replies here. Closest I got to success was having the launcher place an icon on the Portable apps menu - installed both the launcher and the Foxit exe. in the same folder located with the folders for all the other applications - Firefox, Gaim, etc. - Result was a message that the "launcher cannot find the Foxit exe file". Clicking the icon for Foxit brings up the installer which runs its apparently normal routine - but the launcher still can't find it. Some of my comments so far would make a sailor blush - I won't repeat them here - anyone got any ideas on what to try next?

Thanks,

Alice

right exe?

Did you download the right exe from the foxit homepage. You have to download the exe without the installer (The zip file). Place this in the App/foxit directory. This worked with me.

Downloaded the zip file - copied it to a folder located as described above with the launcher - unzipped same - same result as before. I give up - thanks to all for your help.

I just noticed this myself.

I was just installing this last night and had to change the spacing in the .ini. The ini was looking for a FoxitReader.exe and I had a "Foxit Reader.exe".
