Try downloading the file again. I have just tried the download link and received a 4356KB file that does not generate the error message you reported.
officially at (portableapps.com/apps)
3.5.8 (2011-03-05)
(getpaint.net/download.html)
It won't be officially released, at least not for a while, as it requires .NET.
Update this this to 3.5.8.

Is it possible that Mono could be turned into a Portable Mono like Portable Java and get a Launcher?

Mono is not really a viable candidate for much of anything in terms of full .NET apps. Much of .NET is unsupported in Mono. Apps need to specifically be written to support Mono (most are not). Much of the DRM stuff that some apps need is unimplemented in Mono.

The Dropbox link to Paint.NET Portable is a 404. Until the link upstairs fixed, it can be found here.

When i found this i was so happy but then i went down, link broken :(. then another link, it worked...until i ran it.
"missing microsoft C++ redistributable"...it sucks
Dows anyone have anything that could help me, i am on a school pc, they have an intranet and a few blocks for stupid things like firefox. Do you think they are blocking the C++ redist??
NEED IT AT WORK on XP desktop.
Where do I put redistributable C++?
I installed C++ on the desktop but Portable Paint.net apparently can not find it. It finds the NET program I installed on the desktop fine. Not allowed to install paint dot net on work puter or I would do that.
Also it does not know where to find the PDN repair file. I found it on the thumb drive and ran it on my own. It looked like it added a hotkey to something but no change in not finding C++
For others...... portable worked just fine on my Win 7 laptop. It even updated itself to most recent PDN
Install this: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=11895 and paint works!
(but it is not poprtable)

I found a couple of download links for Paint.net portable
http://www.tusfiles.net/k4ufeg41wspc
http://dfiles.eu/files/l3dmym5sv
This I got them from: http://thehouseofportable.blogspot.ch/2012/06/paintnet-3510-portable.html
The House of Portable links to downloads of closed source software like MS and Adobe products.
A *moderator* should look this up.
Link is broken.
I can download it well.
It really works perfect. thank you!
Hi guys, is this legit? [link to illegal site removed by mod JTH]
empty box, check it yourself and stop bothering otherwise
Wm
All you had to say was it's not legit -- didn't have to be a d*ckhead about it. I thought someone else already tried it here...I'm not going to risk installing and getting a virus.
Fully portable Paint.NET 3.5.11. Doesn't require .Net 3.5, can be run on any .Net version (3.5, 4, 4.5, 4.6). Already includes Visual C++ Redistributable.
If you want to add more plugins, just open it with 7-zip and copy your plugin to "Effects" or "File Types" folder.

Is any work still being done with Pain.NET Portable? I understand it's not completely portable with the use of .NET Framework, but it seems as though many Windows platforms are implemented with .NET by default via Windows Update.
I don't know the specifics with .NET and don't want to cause any more upset, but it sure would be nice to have this as a portable (or even semi-portable program).
I have found a version 4.0.9 at thumbapps.org and scanned them with VirusTotal (URL and file) and only came up with what looks like a false positive through Qihoo360, but for the sake of personal preference I'd rather not take any chances with a website that gives little to no info on their existence.
Is there any way I could make this program portable myself? Since it looks like Paint.NET gave their approval?
Can someone post new version of portable version?
https://blog.getpaint.net/2017/07/21/portable-mode-in-paint-net-4-0-17/
Hello.
Your dropbox gives an error (" Error (404) We can't find the page you're looking for.").
Can you fix it?
Wher can i make the download?
Thx
A friend asked if I could try portablizing this application, and it seemed as if people are still requesting a new package, and the .paf.exe provided in the OP prompted me to install a Redistributable package... so I decided to take a crack at updating the package.
As far as I can tell, the version I have put together does not require admin privileges, carries settings from one computer to another, does not require anything else to be installed, and I removed .NET from an installation, and it still ran. Please correct me if I'm wrong.
I have packaged it as a beta release app here: https://portableapps.com/node/63079
Any discussion is appreciated.
