...7ZA.exe this is the command line version of 7zip and it does everything that 7zip does, but doesn't store anything in the registry. As for Filzip it also stores configuration settings in the registry in HKCU\Software. I use batch files to input the config settings to the registry, start the prog and then when the prog is closed, clean the registry. keeps the system free of unecessary settings information.

Yes, but I like GUI better than CLI. Filzip is strange in that it stores settings in the registry when you install it but then has an option to change this to an .ini file afterwards. I don't know if this deletes the original registry settings or not as I copied it to another folder and uninstalled the original because It wouldn't remove the Shell Extensions no matter how I tried. It seems a bit buggy.
You'll be glad to know that the author of Filzip is working on a plugin interface so that users can add in their own compression software, like 7-Zip. The reason for this is that parts of the software isn't free and would not comply with some of the open-source licenses.... Well, that was last time I read. I haven't checked in a while.
