I work at a company that does not permit access to the Internet. There are a handful of sites that are unblocked. As you can imagine, it makes for a long day not having the Internet. Anyway, I used to have FF port on my PC, but the IT department kept ratting me out to my Boss. At work we use a program called putty.exe. In the past I changed the name of the firefoxportable.exe to putty.exe to get it to run. With all this being said, I need my Internet back. The IT department blocked the use of USB devices, but the cd drive works. I need to run FF port from a cd with the name changed to putty.exe. The problem is, I do not know how to change the .ini file to get it to work. Here is what I have (below). If anyone has ant suggestions, it would be greatly appreciated.

I get error when running from cd that putty is not found. If I keep the default settings, I get I do not have permission to run this program.

The FirefoxExecutable line refers to firefox.exe, not firefoxportable.exe. The launcher looks for putty.exe, but it's still called firefox.exe. Simply rename firefox.exe to putty.exe.
Hey John, the support page says that the launcher can't be named firefox.exe, but doesn't it really mean that the launcher and the Firefox executable can't have the same name?
This is probably true, so you'll have to think of another name for one of the executables. Does your IT department whitelist processes or blacklist them?

Follow what he said and it should work, I would suggest though that is they are going through all that trouble to stop you, that you might just want to let it go and bring a book. They might just decide to fire you for repeatedly going against the no internet rule.
Just my opinion.
