[Closed] Latest Maxthon Portable Won't Start

The app says on start-up that there is another instance of the program running, but I haven't even run it from a fresh update. I've tried re-updating it, removing my portable HDD, and nothing. NADA. For the record, this didn't happen until ONE RUN after the update.
I'm running from Windows 7 X64, off a Seagate Portable HDD, 320 GB in size. Please help ASAP, please.

Can't reproduce

I can't reproduce this behaviour.

With Maxthon NOT running, take a look in the Data folder for this file: PortableApps.comLauncherRuntimeData-MaxthonPortable.ini

If it's there, delete it, and try running Maxthon again.

Seems to have worked...

I really don't know what caused this in the first place. Maybe something with the updating caused it. Thanks for the save! I really appreciate it. Smile

You know what, I've been thinking. When life gives you lemons, don't make lemonade. Make life TAKE THE LEMONS BACK! Get mad!! I don't want your lemons; what am I supposed to do with THESE!?

Just had similar problem,

Just had similar problem, message was; "Another instance of Maxthon Portable is starting. Please wait for it to start before launching it again."

For me problem occurred after my laptop was unresponsive, when trying to resume, so I had to hold the power button to force it off.

Open PortableApps.comLauncherRuntimeData-MaxthonPortable.ini in notepad and you will see "Status=running" or in my case it was "Status=starting".

Unsafe Eject

Generally, it's an unsafe eject (pulling the drive out without 'ejecting' it first) or a crash. Certain 3rd-party menus and eject utilities will crash apps rather than properly close them as they eject the drive. The PortableApps.com Platform does not have this issue. Nor does the Windows Safe Eject procedure.

Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!
