Importing Address Books

Hallo All,

Is there any reason why PTB does not pick up Outlook's address book?

Outlook is set to make itself the default email client, but PTB does not detect any other email clients.

When I export my contacts to a csv file, PTB does not seem to pick up the EOL character so my contacts flow into each other.

Thanks
Paul

TB doesn't support Outlook

only Outlook express.

Hi John

Not the answer I was expecting Wink

But at least I can stop stressing about not being able to figure it out. Smile

Thanks again

I finally remembered!

Use yahoo.

1. Export your Outlook Address book to a .csv file.
2. Import that file into yahoo mail address book with the import/export feature under the address tab in yahoo mail.
3. Export the list of addresses with the Netscape/Thunderbird option on that same page. Should be a .ldif file.
4. Import that file to your into PTB with the Tools-Addressbook-Tools-Import feature.

EOL Fix

Almost forgot... Outlook saves csv files without a proper EOL character. Just open that file up in a good text editor (Scite, Notepad++, etc) and then save it again after switching to unix format. (or windows, I can't remember... either way, switch it from what it is to the other one) Then you can import the CSV into TB.
