FirefoxPortable still runs as Firefox and not word?

I just got the FirefoxPortable to launch by renaming the exe file to word. Now, why is it that when I have the Firefox from my PC open and go to open the portable version I get a message saying that Firefox is already open. Is there a way to make the whole program look like Microsoft Word?

What the hell are you on

What the hell are you on about?

I assume you mean reanaming it to allow the application to run in a locked down environment where firefox.exe is prohibited from being run.

In that case, you could try renaming firefox.exe to something like iexplore.exe, then you will have to edit the NSIS launcher script and recompile - this isn't particularly hard (in theory!), as the source is included.

I assume you want firefox to look like word to the computer, not in terms of features... in that case rename it winword.exe, though iexplore.exe is probably better, as that will definatly have internet access.

LOL

You don't have to recompile. Use the INI file.

I don't think so. There's a way to make it look like IE (both to humans and servers).

Sorry I was not clear. I do

Sorry I was not clear. I do want the computer to think it's running word (IE will work) when its really running FirefoxPortable.

I have already reconstructed the ini file to run word.exe to start up, but when I try to open FirefoxPortable (after exe file name change) up while the regular Firefox is running I receive an error message. Something about firefox.exe already running. Why is that the case?

Its PFF

The PortableFF launcher only allows one instance of firefox. So, if you have your locale firefox running, you cant run PortableFF whatever name you gave it. You can disable it (using the ini file, I think) but its not recommended.

In FirefoxPortable.ini do

In FirefoxPortable.ini do you have AllowMultipleInstances=true ? That should do it.

Yes, but it has the potential to mess things up, since Firefox wasn't designed to have more than once instance running at a time. You really should close the installed Fx first.
