LO 3.4.3: Can't open file with space in the name

I know that it is a known bug in LO.
However, I am wondering if there is any plan (from LO team) to fix it.
I browse LO official website but I can't find any information about it; They require to subscribe to their mailing list, which I think that too troublesome for me.

I try to search in Google and find out some suggestion to remove any space from the file name; Well, it is a silly solution, something like "you have rats in your house and you are requested to only consume food, which rats can't eat"

Works for me

There are known problems installing LO to a path with spaces in folder names, but I've never heard of problems opening files with spaces in the name. With LibreOffice Portable 3.4.3 I can open files with several spaces in the name of the file without any issues.

Also, if you want more information about reported bugs, you can search those without registration at https://bugs.freedesktop.org/ (Click on search and then choose LibreOffice as "Product").

SakiTC, Thank you for

SakiTC,

Thank you for replying.

It happens to me.
At first, I thought that the problem was caused by the long path name.
But after I move the file to root, the problem remains.

You didn't have problem, perhaps because you dragged the file into LO.
I didn't drag the file (with space inside its name), but I double click it (I have set the file association correctly)

Example:
I double click on file "this is sample.xls"
LO will response with 3 error message: "this does not exist", "is does not exist", "sample.xls does not exist"

Cheers,
Indra

Works For Me

I opened a file called "test name.ods" by passing it to the LibreOfficePortable.exe launcher and it worked just fine.

How did you associate it and what did you associate? Keep in mind that officially we don't support file assocations but they should work with eXpresso or Portable File Associations.

Yes, I can do it successfully

Yes, I can do it successfully if I drag the file to LibreOfficePortable.
However, if I double click the file then that things happen.

I associate the file to LibreOfficePortable via Total Commander (the very old version 6.01)
It works well for filenames without space.

Associated Wrong

Dragging a file onto LibreOfficePortable.exe (not into an open LibreOffice window, mind you), is exactly the same thing as making a file association. Unless you've made the file association incorrectly in Total Commander, of course. Likely, Total Commander is passing the path without double quotes around it, which is incorrect behavior. This causes LibreOffice to interpret it as multiple files being passed.

It should be starting this:
X:\PortableApps\LibreOfficePortable\LibreOfficePortable.exe "X:\Path To\Your File.ods"

Not this:
X:\PortableApps\LibreOfficePortable\LibreOfficePortable.exe X:\Path To\Your File.ods

John, You are absolutely

John,

You are absolutely right.
I review the file association, it shows: d:\libreofficeportable\libreofficeportable.exe %1

I put double quote to make it becomes: d:\libreofficeportable\libreofficeportable.exe "%1"
Now, it works well.

Thanks a lot.

Indra
