Probably not useful

It seems a little redundant to me. The PortableApps platform has a built-in backup feature, and if you don't use that then it's pretty easy to backup your personal data using something like Toucan (since personal data is usually stored in the "data" folder for each app). Not to mention that MozBackup is probably made with the standard installed versions in mind, not the portable versions, so it might not even work as expected.

Not to poo-poo your idea, but I don't see any added benefit to using this program.

minor missunderstanding...

actually i was thinking that it might be useful for tech's and repair ppl to backup a firefox/thunderbird/sunbird profile being as firefox sync wont copy themes or extentions. and it will back up/restore portables as well. the backup feature for PA only backs up on the drive not a host computer. I havent used Toucan, but i wasnt thinking of personal data.

Siphon kinda syncs

Siphon kinda syncs extensions. Once you create an account, it generates a list of extensions for you. While it doesnt automatically install extensions, it will display a list of differences, and includes buttons to install or ignore.

Oh I see

Oh I see, you want to use it portably on non-portable installations of the aforementioned applications. Fair enough. I'd have no need of it myself since I don't administer PCs, and when I backup Firefox et el I just backup the whole directory, application included.

I could see how it could be useful though I guess.

Did you make any progress

Did you make any progress with this? It'd be really handy to use. I'm hoping the people moaning that it's "redundant" and how it's "pretty easy to" do it manually" didn't put you off.

There's similar idiots every time a tool is proposed. Just because they don't have a need for it, no one else could possibly need it either.

I'd love to have it for diagnostics as you also express as a use.

No need for name calling.

The poster asked a question and an answer was provided (and then rectified). Calling anyone an idiot was unnecessary.
