Microsoft not playing fair

Has anyone else noticed this little feature in IE7?

I can't wait until IE8 automatically uninstalls FF3 for you. Damn mozilla and their spyware.

Try reloading the page. If

Try reloading the page. If that doesn't work, bypass the cache (ctrl-F5). Don't know if IE7 has a JavaScript blocker, but if it does, make sure it's off for mozilla.com.

Microsoft caters to users of

Microsoft caters to users of browsers other than IE. I went on the website (using Firefox of course) and they provide a plugin for Windows validation.

They know that users who choose not to use IE won't change their mind, and wouldn't be too happy if they couldn't use certain services that all Windows customers are entitled to.

Umm...no?

They may cater in that one way, but they *definitely* don't do so in general. I use Windows Live OneCare for my antivirus/firewall, and you can't adjust any of your account settings outside of ie.

WIndows Live

Anything under the Windows Live label is a service linked to an online account. I'm not familiar with all the details of how this works, but when my 90 day free trial ended, and I clicked on the button to sign up for the paid service, I got a page saying that I needed to load a particular url in ie, and not any other browser. That same page tells me how long is left in my current subscription, and lets me add new computers to my account (a OneCare subscription covers installations on up to three computers).
