All Windows Programs

Why can't Portable Apps run anything the user wants like in Ceedo. I believe that free software should be as good as the paid software. I guess I'll use the trial for 45 days and use Steam at school and have fake admin rights for a limited time with that program. The link to Ceedo is: http://www.ceedo.com/

Because

Everyone has different methods of developing portable apps. There are limitations to all methods, some more than others. That does not mean one is better than the other. In fact, I think PortableApps.com's method is the best because it is the simplest method to develop portable apps (in my experience) and the whole format is open source. Ceedo is proprietary, and, granted that I didn't look at the license, I'm pretty sure there are heavy restrictions on what you can do with apps you make portable with Ceedo.

Correct

Yes, I tried it and it was kind of confusing, some apps looked like they were on my keydrive but weren't, also, I don't really trust Brothersoft approved applications so I decided to get rid of it. I guess Portable Apps will soon have a virtual registry and admin account so I can do whatever I want with it. For now, I'm sticking to Portable Apps.

hm

I dont know for sure, but "virtual admin account" sounds like something that is impossible due to the restrictions of Windows itself.

It seems like a possibility

It seems like a possibility to make a virtual admin account if you make your keydrive have a virtual C drive and it would allow installing any program that requires admin rights like in Wine or Crossover. Maybe you can have bottles too and have different sets of fake C drives.

but wine

does provide all essential parts of the windows itself, so it can so install what ever if the dependencies are met. Not complete virtual machine so far, but half way to it. The OS behind it is linux and so this will not interfere with it.

You can not do this on windows unless you install a virtual machine with all the drivers needed where you can do what you want sure.

Having virtual system drive on usb stick and on the pc itself at the same time operational, well how would the apps know which is which?

The closest thing

to making "All Windows Programs" Portable is to carry a bootable copy of Windows on an external harddrive and have the host computer boot off of your Windows. Then you can install, play, and carry your settings without messing with the host computer. But then again, there will be some problems, even with that, such as hardware dependencies, Windows checks and other things.

Not to mention that there are millions of Windows applications out there.

The bottom line is this:
Never will all windows programs ever be made portable. Period.
