Has anyone else noticed how expensive 3.5" SATA HDDs are?

I bought a 2TB drive in April for AU$95, and now shopping for another the exact same drive from the same supplier is AU$200, and I can't find it anywhere for less than AU$170.

Is this just happening in Australia, or is it a worldwide phenomenon?

Floods in Thailand

From a brazilian IT news site:

The market of hard disk manufacturers is suffering the first consequences of the severe floods that occured in Thailand. Several peripheral factories were affected by the natural phenomenon in the country, which made that the average price of hard drives go up by 50%.

Previously known as kAlug.

Thanks, that would explain

Thanks, that would explain it.

Also explains why the same place has been selling off a portable HD enclosure and a NAS dirt-cheap recently - trying to move hard drives through suggestive sales...
