As my list of portable apps is growing larger and larger, its starting to become much more difficult to find apps - even when using the "smart categories".
Would it be possible to implement a search at the bottom where one could simply start typing a program name to have the list automatically filter down in the same manner the Windows 7 / Vista start menu does?
Im sure this has already been suggested elsewhere, but I couldnt figure out how to easily search through these forums, so apologies if this has already been addressed.
Thanks a bunch!
It's already built in. You can either just start typing or type a / to display the search box first (ala Firefox) and then start typing.
Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!
OKAY... I see now this is a known problem.
This only works for me if I type / first, or use Search for installed Apps... if I just start typing I get the search box with a box-like symbol, and it will find nothing. Latest version or the PortableApps Platform, 10.0.1 running on a computer with Windows XP 5.1 Build 2600.
Search worked for me on earlier versions.
Did you try it?
Every 'Next' Pre-Release has this feature already. Just type when the menu is open and you see the results. I may help to hide the "Portable" affix if you are looking for any app with "portable" in its real name. And remember, the Find-as-you-type looks up every name containing the string, not just those, beginning with it (I start the "PortableApps.com Launcher" with "m l", cause I also have NirSoft Launcher installed).
The search box is at the top actually, not the bottom.

Hi John, why do I always loose the answering competition to you? I know, too much words as always.
Ha! Awesome! I had no idea this existed! Thanks a bunch John!
