Installing a non-paf portable program and seeing it in my start.exe menu

I like FastStone image viewer. They have directions for installing their app as a portable app--just download a zip file and place the entire folder on the drive you want to use. http://faststone.org/FSViewerDownload.htm

Now I have done this--placing the file onto my USB drive, but I'd also like it visible when I open my my portable apps directory.

I saw the directions here (https://portableapps.com/support/portable_apps_suite#addingotherapps ) but am not entirely sure how to do this. I didn't see any PortableApps folder in my USB drive. I'd like to keep this start.exe right in the USB itself, and not inside any other folder. Is it possible to do this while still having my FastStone in the portable apps menu?

Did you install the PortableApps Platform?

I'm assuming you did, and that is what you are referring to when you say "portable apps directory".

So, you should see the following folders in the root of your USB:
\Documents\
\PortableApps\
as well as the following files:
Autorun.inf
Start.exe

So to use FastStone viewer, unzip the portable one they have. That will give you a folder called \FSViewer46\. Put that folder into the PortableApps folder.
The folder structure would be:
X:\PortableApps\FSViewer46\

Since the FSViewer.exe file is inside the \FSViewer46\ folder, it will automatically show up in the Platform. You will need to restart the platform just once to make sure it shows up.

I made this half-pony, half-monkey monster to please you.

Found it

OK believe it or not, that portable apps folder was visible in the tree view on the left pane, but not in the right pane (where I do most of my work).

OK I have moved it over, and it is now visible in my portable apps menu.

Great. All is well, although I'm not sure why that portable apps folder wasn't visible in the right pane. Oh well.

Thanks.
