The DOCUMENTS folder cannot be seen

Here is the problem:

– When I use the USB device on a Macintosh with system 9 (can't remember the decimal – English system) or OS X (both English and French systems), the "Documents" folder and all its subfolders cannot be seen. I can use all other folders of the device; therefore, I can use my documents if I move them out of the "Documents" folder, but I can't see nor access them if they are in the Documents folder which is totally invisible on the Macintosh.

– On Windows XP (French), I have the same behaviour in an application that doesn't use the standard Windows explorer interface. It's the case for the "Import" command in Adobe Premiere, which sees the entire USB device, EXCEPT the Documents folder. I haven't been able to check if the problem exists with Windows 7.

Is it a bug? Any workaround?

Note that overall, I am a very satisfied user of the PortableApps platform, which I find especially useful for Thunderbird, Firefox and Filezilla. It works fine on both XP and Windows 7 platforms.

P.S. In case it matters, I use PortableApps in French.

System Setting

It could be the System flag on the folder, necessary for the custom icon. Right click the folder in Windows and uncheck system.

Apart from losing those fancy icons, are there any drawbacks to removing the System flag on Documents, Pictures and Video folders?

Just Icons

It's just for the icons. An odd trick of Windows. Please let me know if that fixes it.

It's a fix

Sorry for the long delay. I had to test on machines that aren't mine.

So it seems the problem is fixed.
I was able to test it with the non-standard dialogue boxes in Adobe Premiere and with a Macintosh that uses System 9. In both cases, the trick works. I won't have access to OS X in the forseable future, so I would invite other people to test it.
