Hi,
when someone decides to submit a new topic on the Forum, he could encounter a little annoying situation. He starts writing the body of his question/topic, and halfway he decides to open the "More information about formatting options" link, to see how he could emphasize a word, or add a smiley. The page replaces the previous one, and when he found the info looked for and goes back through the browser...
all the text of the topic has disappeared.
Had someone already noticed that?
Please note that this applies only to new topics (both written for the first time and edited), not to replies.
Nope I use FF and no issues, what you could do is duplicate the tab then you could see both
“Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.” Dr. Seuss
I use FF, too, and also experience the behaviour michele.bartolettistella describes (though I had to follow his description by word). No problem with replies but new posts behave different.
I normally don't encounter this issue as I tend to open links in a new tab if possible (middle mouse button).
I believe that form data saving is a browser feature, not dependent on the site.
/* @John: Is it possible to add a
target="_new"
to that link? */Previously known as kAlug.
True, but it somehow is not activated for the body text form whereas it is activated for the subject text form (as well as the comment text form for replies). Maybe it has something to do with the teaser separator (that's the only difference I realized after quick glance at the code)...
It's a very little issue, I know; and of course it can be obviated using a new tab. I only decided to notify this on the forum because a couple of days ago, writing my first topic here at portableapps.com, I sadly lost all my text... And thought that other thousands of portableappers all around the world, at their first post, lost alike.
Yes, I think this could be resolved definitively just setting target="_blank" or something similar behind the link by the webmasters.
