Sorry, I totally screwed up!

Not a big problem as MediaInfo is portable by default, but automatic language switching did not work at all and even produced an error message when lauched without the platform. There was no harm done to the settings file as I just mixed up "Key" and "Entry" for ConfigWrite.
I should work now.
I could use some serious testing, though, maybe on a Win7 machine with restricted rights. Just to see if MediaInfo is capable to set and revert its shell integration...

0.7.50 Feedback

Works on Win7 with regular user.

However;

  • The shell integration remains after close. On a whim I selected MediaInfo from the right-click options of a video file after closing MediaInfo and it still managed to find the application and launch it. No local MediaInfo install.
  • Not sure it saves settings as despite selecting not to check for updates it was re-enabled when MediaInfo next started

Thanks for testing

Shell integration is a user setting. It should not be touched as is breaks portability per definition. MediaInfo can take care of it as it reverts these settings if unselected (to a certain extent). I set it to revert to disabled on every start so it easily repairs the "damage". But only if started a second time...
It leaves a lot of reg entries (mostly in Classes Root) otherwise.

Same with check for updates. Did you test it with Dev Test 3? It was broken in Dev Test 1 and 2. I also set it to be unchecked on the next start, works here on WinXP.

Maybe you could check, if these value are set to 0 in Data\MediaInfo.cfg after a second launch:
CheckUpdate, ShellExtension, ShellExtension_Folder and ShellInfoTip

I possibly have access to a Win7 machine with restricted rights next week so I could test some more.

Sorry for the long update delay, I was very short of spare time the last weeks.

MediaInfo switched to Simplified BSD License a while ago. Still OSI conform, though.

-edit-
I skipped 64bit support for now as it will probably mess up the settings file.
