I am confused about what cable to use with a 3.0 flash drive. Most of the ads I see for 3.0 drives do not mention the use of a usb 3.0 cable. By the same token I see added for a 3.0 usb cable that quite different form a standard usb 2.0. I know that I am going to have to add a usb 3.0 card to my machine, so I would like to get all of this in one try and be done with it.

You can use a USB 2.0 cable in a USB 3.0 port. But whatever you plug into the other end will only work at USB 2.0 speeds. So, if you have a USB 3.0 port, a USB 3.0 drive and connect them with a USB 2.0 cable, the drive would act just like you plugged it into a USB 2.0 port.
