I do like the new Menu & how the updater operates independently but instead of just updating existing applications, might we also see new programs as well?

The app store is built in as well. Just click on Apps - Get More Apps. There's lots more info on the apps at the site as well, so the platform and site complement each other.

Maybe it's testament to all the years of effort of developers and packaging staff.
