When I click your link this is what I get:

ERROR
Direct linking not allowed

You came from: https://portableapps.com/node/23295
Please let the webmaster of the site you came from know that so-called "Hotlinking" to this file is not allowed

Unfortunately, many people have taken it upon themselves to put unnecessary strain on the Pale Moon web server by pretending to host a download, and instead directly linking to the file on the web server. This is considered bandwidth theft, and is not condoned.
As a result, direct linking to the Pale Moon installer from other locations is no longer allowed on this web server.

Please search - you'll find it's been discussed before and the reason why we won't be doing it.

Why?

Have you read this thread and the other thread about it? What purpose is there in having it? I can't think of any.

On their site

Just download it on their site. They have a portable build, but it's not in PortableApps format. It doesn't have to be, anyway. Download the portable build and run it.

When prompted for a location, enter the drive letter of your PortableApps drive, as such, where X is the drive letter (e.g. G, F, D, whatever):

X:\PortableApps\PaleMoonPortable

Then hit Enter, let it do its thing. It will appear in the category Other in the PortableApps menu as palemoon-portable. Go ahead and rename it, and change the category to Internet, or Favorite it.

I finally chose Pale Moon because 1) My wife likes to leave her Firefox running, and Pale Moon so far is the only way to open another Firefox profile at the same time. And 2) because of the snake oil that says it'll run faster in Windows. I don't believe that it will, but I bet it won't hurt. Oh, and 3) I prefer the blue Pale Moon button to the orange Firefox button. Simple aesthetics. And 4) I've saved her two clicks. No more Profile Manager. We're on a loaner computer, it's not very fast, so I'm not burdening it with multiple Windows accounts. Used to be we both worked out of Firefox. Open Firefox, choose profile, hit OK. Now she opens Firefox, I open Pale Moon, and if she wants to forget to close Firefox, I can just run Pale Moon without grabbing my PortableApps drive and firing up Chrome Portable.

Being an ex-Firefox fanatic,

Being an ex-Firefox fanatic, I thought Pale Moon was going to be the Next Big Thing™, but then I found that while it did run slightly quicker, it also crashed three to four times more often than Firefox, and considering crash frequency was one of the reasons I moved away from Firefox in the first place, it just wasn't acceptable to have half of my primary workspace as a web developer crash at least once an hour.

Current Firefox

The current firefox is much faster and far less crash prone. Granted there are still some extensions that can hobble it. But they are extensions doing lower-level things than are allowed on Chrome, etc.

I do still use Firefox (a local install) on my work machine, which I keep up-to-date. As much as Iron has become my regular browser now, I can't get by without FireBug.

I am pretty sure I only have FireBug and FireQuery installed, but the crash problem is still there, although I wouldn't say it is all Firefox's fault. I work on Javascript-intensive web apps, and I know I still haven't plugged all the leaks, so FireFox's memory footprint flies through the roof.

A PortableApps Palemoon rev would be nice

I use both the PortableApps FF9 and the portable Palemoon8 - I don't have any crashing issues with Palemoon others have reported. I run all the same add-ons (lots!) without issue. As was mentioned, it's supposed to be a bit faster and it definitely allows me to run both at the same time with separate profiles. I use FF9 for home and Palemoon for work browsing. What I miss is the easy way of updating that comes with a PortableApp which is why an official PAF for it would be appreciated.

Isn't Faster

With the recent releases, Pale Moon isn't noticeably faster than Firefox anymore. And it's lack of accessibility support and other things means it's likely not something we'd encourage folks to use. Plus the Pale Moon folks are testy about anyone altering 'their' browser and keeping the name intact, which makes it a bit of a non-starter.

Nice one.

With the recent developments in Chrome/Firefox it might be interesting again?

Abandoning Firefox

I'm using PaleMoon until FireFox has managed to discover how to fix the Back Button > "Document Expired" bug.
The portable version seems to run fine, and all the addons work as well.

Pale Moon Portable v26.3.3

I use Pale Moon Portable for one simple reason.......NO AUSTRALIS.....never....ever.....Speed is ok, but without Australis, I wouldn't mind any noticeable speed tradeoffs.

An extra bonus is that about 96% of all FF extensions work with PM....The GOANNA engine they now use is sweet. So, in a nutshell it's better than FireFox prior to Australis, & it is regularly updated with ongoing security patches so it stays safely relevant. Updating is a snap, & having multiple profiles is too easy. Wink
