Hi, I'm presently using version 9.0.1 with windows 7 64 bit.
I was alerted that I need to update to version 10.0. I did. After updating when I try to start FFP I get this (screenshot below) and I can't seem to get past it. I reinstalled 9.0.1 from my saved copy and everything is fine again, yet it's telling me for security reasons I need to update to version 10.0. Any idea on what went wrong when I installed the new version and how I can fix it so as it will work properly?

updating from the portable apps site instead of through your browser?

I've tried that also, and I still end up with the same result.
something wrong with the download? I updated mine via portable apps with no issues. Are you using the update app feature of the new platform or downloading from the webpage here?

first time, the popup came up telling me I needed to update, which I did. that is when I got the error the first time upon restarting. The only way I could even get it to load and make it to a webpage was to go into the folder and open the 'help.html' file, then work my way from there. I looked for the same error in the forums and found nothing. I then went to the page you have in your link above and downloaded it from there, still receiving the same error.
Try making a fresh install to a different folder (for example FFTestPortable instead of FirefoxPortable), and try that install. If it works fine something may have been corrupted in your original profile.
I made a copy of my entire ffp folder to a different usb stick, when I installed a new copy of the download to it, it came up with this error during install,

I told it to ignore and continue installing. Once finished it looked for the addons being compatible, all that went fine. And it proceeded to open only to come up with
(I think) the same error but this time the window closed itself before I had a chance to read it fully yet it was still running in task manager and I had to shut it down through there.
I installed again, as you suggested and it works fine.
With the fresh install of ffp 10.0, I copied and pasted the entire Data folder from my 9.0.1 installation into it and all is working properly now. I have had no errors and all of my bookmarks, passwords etc are intact.
I'm guessing that it was the dictionary file that was the problem? Although with both of the first installs (the update and subsequent full install) never once did I receive the error of the setup not being able to open that file. I'm curious though if it indeed was the dictionary or something entirely different.
I want to Thank you, both, for helping me with this because I love Firefox!! and I wasn't about to give it up for 'that other browser'.... lol
