How hard would it be to put an eject button next to the x on the menu?
that way, you could eject the usb device from there, closing all programs using it and elimate having to click the WINDOWS SAFELY REMOVE HARDWARE.

Ejection of the USB device is something planned for a later release (note that the screenshot on the website has an eject button on it... I removed it near the end due to some issues).
but, when is the release schedualed for?

I would like to see this too in the next release, as I dropped U3 last night and installed this, and now it's been hard to properly eject my thumb drive. Windows Safely Remove Hardware says that a program is accessing it, but I know it is not.
It is a great program, though. I like it.

Windows will not let me safely safely remove the drive normally and I cannot see a program that I can stop either.

My drive does that too. It's been doing that forever (even before I installed any portable stuff). Windows will claim that 'the device can't be stopped'. If I tell it to eject again, it does. It might just be your drive and not the apps.

Since Windows thinks something is still running... and AutoStart tries to do a standard Windows safe eject... it won't help.
Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!
Disregard.

any way in order for it to work ,manualy for now or automaticaly via the menu in the future.any app initiated fron the usb including the menu itself have to terminated before it can eject properly. And John by the way right now as every body are requesting many mods regarding customisations of the menu please ultimately try to keep the best balance for speed of process.the more customisation we be able to do
more config saving will be require when closing in addition of an safe eject feature.
As it is now we can pull out our drives even without closing the menu and it wont affect it's structure or operation for the next time witch is to me a strong positive point(you can maybe add a self kill in the event where the usb drive is not present and the menu is stil running question of leaving no traces).I used pstart previously and some times at exit it did not completly save it's config(especialy on windows 2000 machines),witch force me to reload the backup config. And finaly my new drive is an U3 that I revert to standart due to mainly the fact that it take for ever for the eject process to finish.
I use unlocker (http://ccollomb.free.fr/unlocker/) to force the computer to stop all programs related to the drive- usually works like a charm. I unlock and it lets me eject.
I've experienced the same problem with WinXP claiming the drive is in use. Upon inspection of my task list I discovered that some of the programs I had used on the drive were indeed still running, despite the fact I had closed them down. WinAmp does this every time I use it. Check your task list!

Anyway, the tool and the site are very helpful.
