I have tried numerous times to backup my portable apps platform - fails every time. Not sure where the problem lies.
Get the error that states the backup has failed - check the configuration.
Platform version 10.0.1
Thanks

Hm... I've seen this... Probable cause - improper file names.
Some programs can create files with (1) same filenames but different capitalisation, or (2) with non-permitted characters in the name, like "=" or "!"; then (3) it could be a problem in the path length of some files... In each of those cases PA Backup fails.
I'd suggest you copy folders one by one somewhere else and hope to see some error pop out. That should give you the clue which files are to blame, and why.
1 and 2 might be caused by any file-creating-with-auto-naming program, like YouTube downloaders or IM and IRC messengers while creating logs, whereas 3 could be caused be moving some folders with folders in folders... deeper inside some other folder, inside folders, within folders... You get it
My posts are old and likely no longer relevant.
I will give this a try!

I'm also running 10.0. I backed up a 16gb with 11gb used flash drive successfully last night. I chose the Complete (all files) option. I'm impressed that it was able to compress 11gb down to 3.8gb. I'm going to restore the backup to another flash drive and test it.
I'd suggest running a ProcMon

Capture during the backup. Restrict ProcMon as much as possible filtering out all unrelated applications and background processes and paths.
Also look at Windows Application Event logs.
Shutdown as many apps as possible to ensure you have sufficient free RAM before starting the backup.
Also, make sure you have sufficient space for the backup on your chosen save path.
