well considering SMPlayer makes use of mplayer but using mplayer compiles from subversion they compiled themselves (last I checked anyways) so Mplayer is still available just with a different frontend and better updated and a better UI for mplayer

much rather have "maintained better" and fewer security issues, Thank You for removing it AND replacing it. My last version of mplayer was, 0.9.2.421 , 1.0 Release Candidate 2.
There are still no stable Windows builds nor are there likely to ever be. Nothing has changed on any site I see. There are unstable nightly builds and that's it.

MPlayer doesn't put out stable builds at all anymore and the last ones for Windows have serious security issues. SMPlayer is maintained better.

It looks like Mplayer might be back in business ? Are the new versions worth looking into ?
