Hello World!
I have made a portable version of FreeStudio, an awesome application which allows you to convert, burn, download of YouTube, etc.
For reasons of Copyright, I am not allowed to give you the actual files of this application but here's the guide on how to make it portable.
1. Download This : http://www.mediafire.com/?hktytdtmomy
That is the launcher files. Extract that where you will keep FreeStudio Portable.
2. Download FreeStudio : http://dvdvideosoft.com/download/FreeStudio.exe
Install this to C:\Program Files (recommended but not necessary)
3. Copy the contents of C:\Program Files\DVDVideoSoft\Free Studio to (the directory of the launcher exe)\App\FreeStudio
4. Copy the contents of C:\Program Files\Common Files\DVDVideoSoft to (the directory of the launcher exe)\App\FSM
5. Run FreeStudioPortable.exe to start the portable version of FreeStudio.
And Voila. Your done!
How can i thank you for this my friend? you are the best! Thanks and keep up the good work!!
Ok i have bin use sing FreeStudio Poratble Launcher and when the menu for FreeStudio comes up it will not that show that "Free YouTube To DVD Converter" is in the menu it shows as if it was not installed it also dose the same for "Free Screen Video Recorder" and Free Screen Video Recorder is a grate new program to the collection of Free DVDVideoSoft
Ok so I did some checking in the windows registry system and your launcher dose makes registry kye path at [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\DVDVideoSoft]
oh yea by the way I was able to fix the path for "Free Screen Video Recorder" but not for not for "Free YouTube To DVD". It will not work even if I change the path in the registry, it give a error message "FreeYouTubeToDVDConverter has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."
If this portion gets fix then the program will be completely in working order.8)
and this is the contents of that error
"Event Type: clr20r3 P1:freeyoutubetodvdconverter.exe P5: 2.2.3.2
P3:4bd1b5d1 P4:freeyoutubetodvdconverter P5:2.2.3.2
P6:4bd1b5d1 P7:35 P8:9b P9:system.io.filenotfoundexeption"
here is the registry for it:
P.S. I did use the <code> </code> attribute but it did not work srry!
[You don't use <code> for blocks, you use <pre>; <code> is for inline code - mod Chris]
where are the following directories??:
Copy the contents of C:\Program Files\DVDVideoSoft\Free Studio to (the directory of the launcher exe)\App\FreeStudio
4. Copy the contents of C:\Program Files\Common Files\DVDVideoSoft to (the directory of the launcher exe)\App\FSM
I have unzipped the launcher files as directed but cannot find the "launcher exe directories" to copy the "C" program files to !!!! I click on the "freestudioportable.exe" link provided in the unzipped launcher files but I get an error message and cannot find any directory anywhere.
can anyone help ??

Sorry Chris, I am new to this forum !
Be sure to make the following folders in the FreeStudioPortable folder:
/FreeStuidoPortable/App/FreeStudio/ (create folder "App" with the folder "FreeStudio" in it)
/FreeStuidoPortable/App/FSM/ (create folder "FSM" inside of the folder "App")
Then follow step 3 and 4. If when running FreeStudioPortable and it asks to continue writing to registries, LET IT!
this software needs dotnet framework 3.5 or higher to run. how it can be portable?
//stay tuned
Most updated computers have dotnet framework 3.5 or higher. I know when I ordered my laptop, it came with all of the current frameworks pre-installed!
If they aren't, just bring around a copy of dotnet framework 3.5 and do the computer owner's a favor!
Instructions were clear, works like a charm! For everyone else who's having problems, be sure to make the following folders in the FreeStudioPortable folder:
/FreeStuidoPortable/App/FreeStudio/ (create folder "App" with the folder "FreeStudio" in it)
/FreeStuidoPortable/App/FSM/ (create folder "FSM" inside of the folder "App")
I have a feeling that some people were confused with step 3 & 4. This should clear it up. (I hope)
UPDATE: 04/23/2011
FreeStudio updated their software and it seem like it doesn't work anymore =/
Hey Jim,
I followed your suggestion and everything seemed fine. The program loaded up but when I tried to access any of the applications such as "FREE YOUTUBE DOWNLOAD" or any of the others, I got the message "windows cannot find 'C:\Program Files\DVDVideosoft\Free Studio\Free YouTube Download\FreeYouTubeDownload.exe'
Any suggestions would be appreciated!
will it be add to apps directory?
Have you tested this on other PCs that haven't installed apps from DVDVideoSoft before? 'cause it isn't working for me.
The welcome/launcher screen shows up fine, but the apps from the menu don't start at all. Instead an IE window opens to download the app (audio dub in my case).
I'm using XP 32-bit and I've extracted all the files as per the instructions.
This "portable launcher" needs work. Don't use it if you want your registry and file-system clean.
I've had enough of the cherry on top!
The guide/launcher is out of date !
New version FreeStudio maybe changes features, you must re-tracking and re-compile.
Сompilation ends this error:
This file is exist. Not running.
How can I compile it?
Easy! Great job!
as you all get "Great Job!"?
