I'm running Firefox 10.0.1 under Win7, but the problem isn't really new. I find that after running Firefox over a day and opening and closing many tabs my whole machine slows down drastically. Killing firefox and restarting fixes that. My annoyance is that exiting Firefox very rarely kills it.
Exit Firefox. Wait a minute or so. Start Task Manager. There you see Firefoxportable.exe and firefox.exe still running. Note that CPU usage is still high. Use Task Manager to kill them. CPU usage drops dramatically. Restart Firefox and all is well.
I have no idea whether this is a Portable Apps problem or just a Firefox problem. I'm just curious if there is a way to fix it?

Some plugins and extensions can cause that. Determining which is another story. Closing it can take a while and even longer on flash. As you watch it in Task Manager if memory is slowly decreasing, it is closing.

OK. So I have now implemented ffxkill.bat using taskkill and tasklist to force it closed. There is probably a more elegant solution but ...
Wish I could incorporate it into a restart button inside FFXPortable. But I'm not awesome.

Yeah, I like how you force close and prevent all the obviously unnecessary data saving just because you don't really have the time to spare. Can you share more details of your solution?
