After upgrading to 3.8.0, System Explorer requires admin rights every time it is started on any computer that doesn't have a normal installation of the program. By the looks of the error messages I've been getting, and what the official help page says, this appears to be because, starting with this version, it needs a service in order to run. This isn't a problem on my own computer, since it can just use the service from my local installation of System Explorer, but this effectively blocks me from using it anywhere else. Is there any way to work around this, or am I stuck using other task managers?

If the base app requires it, the portable package does. If you'd like it changed, you'll need to let the publisher know.

Part of me was hoping that the launcher had some feature to deal with this.
Someone else should confirm this and a note should be put on the app page.

I can imagine that such program needs admin rights as it looks into some depth of the system.

I just updated to the final version of 3.8.1, and can confirm that the limited rights mode is back.

Yesterday, 2021-15-11, I downloaded System Explorer Portable (v.7.1) and tried to run it on Windows 10.
Windows asked me for administrator rights.
I believe that this program is not portable and should be removed from the portal.
Many system apps require admin rights to run. The functions of the app itself won't work without it. These apps are still portable with that caveat.
