As a happy newcomer to PortableApps I wonder whether full real-time protection is ensured by the resident Antivirus + Anti-Malware + Firewall software on the host PC (the one into which the USB Flash drive is connected) assuming of course those are up to date and work properly. If so, I would promptly conclude they are useless on a Flash drive.
Thank you for any confirmation.
in addition such real time security software can not be run from an usb stick anyway, as such utilities have to be started before the full operating system runs.
It can be sometimes useful to have some additional on demand scanner on the stick , just to manually scan some downloaded files, folders on unknown machines etc. As the clamwin form here.

"I would promptly conclude they are useless on a Flash drive."
If you can quarantee that the Flash drive will only be used on the machine with the full real-time protection you describe than I conclude you don't need a Flash drive.
Flash drives are more useful when used in multiple machines.
