USB autoboot option...

Hello,
When I boot my computer and hit the F9 key to select a boot option, I can't boot to my USB drive. I have other USB drive I can boot too. Is there something I can download onto my USB drive to boot to it.

Thanks,
John

If

you are trying to boot to the PortableApps drive there is no OS on it. PortableApps is not a replacement for an OS

and crate mbr

you will also need to make the stick bootable that means with proper partition table , and important a master boot record needs to be created first.

But almost any linux distro has a tool on board doing all that full automatic.

With windows it might be more harder to try, as current versions will need activation etc.

That that hard.

It's not as hard as you think if you use RMPrepUSB (http://www.rmprepusb.com/) and build PE systems like UBCD4Win (http://www.ubcd4win.com/) and WinBuilder (http://reboot.pro/forum/50/).

What do you want to boot?

If you're running DOS - Windows 98 COPY your system's MSDOS.sys, IO.sys, config.sys and autoexec.bat to your USB drive.

If you're running XP you can COPY your system's ntldr, ntdetect.com to it and add a boot.ini file.

If your running Win 7 you can COPY your system's bootmgr to it.

If you want to boot a Linux system I can't help you but you will probably need to download a Linux ISO.
