Chrome is very slow, both the UI and loading pages?
I'm not sure where to exactly address this but, considering I don't have this issue with a regular installation of Chrome, I believe this is a PortableApps version issue.
Basically, Chrome is extremely slow. First, it took about 2 hours for the Sync to be fully finished (bookmarks were fast, but themes and plugins were veeery long to appear) and, every time I open a new tab and go to a website, it takes about 15-20 seconds before the page loads. The first 10 seconds it shows a white page, then is does "Sending request" and it takes about 5-10 seconds for the page to fully appear.
Just showing the "New Tab" interface takes that same 10 seconds!
Firefox Portable does not have this issue, and a regular Chrome install doesn't have this issue either (obviously, or else Chrome wouldn't be very popular).
Any ideas? Am I the only one?
Flash drive speed?
Are you running it from a flash drive? How slow is it?
That may be the cause.
I'm not sure why else I'd
I'm not sure why else I'd have a "PORTABLE" app if I wasn't making it portable on a flash drive?
In any case, yes I am running from a brand new, 32GB, USB 2.0 Kingston DataTraveller stick.
Though, I guess it may have been a combination of computer and the USB port, because I tried on a different computer and it seems to run fine.
Huh. Nevermind, carry on.
portable
Some larger drives or cheaper ones are slower that others. Thats what he was talking about. And generally, external HDDs are faster than flash drives.
Besides that, as you noticed, the usb port speed matters too
Trouble with Java
Thanks for all the work you all do with PortableApps.
I'm having a little trouble with java plugin - it's not working.
I have GoogleChromePortable 17.0.963.83 installed, and I have jportable_6_update_31.1 installed. Chrome will not run sites with java plugin required.
EclipsePortable is working, as is LibreOfficePortable. I also tried the GoogleChromePortable.ini config of setting ImportJava=true. Any ideas how to fix?
