Studies on traces that portable app leaves behind

Hi,

i am doing some studies about portable application in general to study the traces that they leave after use. I know everybody is saying that these application don't leave any trace. but i'm sure they will leave something somewhere.

Can someone help me to develop this subject.

Can you tell me names of some applications that can be used to see where an application(one of the portable application for exemple) create files or leave files somewhere, or put keys in register?like a tracer.

Thanks in advance.

Nobody in the know here will

Nobody in the know here will say that an app leaves no trace whatsoever. On a Windows PC it is virtually impossible to leave no trace at all that an app has run.

What we will say is that the apps released here are made to leave no personal data behind, and should not affect the settings and files of a locally installed version of the same app, while also making sure that the settings associated with a portable app stay with that portable app.

If you really want to check it out, get RegShot Portable from the App Store. Take a shot before running an app, then another while the app is running and compare - you will see the files/registry entries modified by the portable launcher that the specific app requires. Then clear the second shot, close the portable app, take another second shot and compare again - this time you will see that the changes observed while the app was running do not appear anymore, because the original files and registry keys were put back where they were before running the app.

Traces

Anyone claiming that any app leaves no traces is either lying or doesn't understand portable software. Some less-reputable software sites will claim this.

Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!
