Thunderbird 11.0.1

Thunderbird keeps prompting to upgrade to 11.0.1 but it is not on Portable Apps so the upgrade will be the installed version.

Usually Portable Apps upgrades are immediate or just a day or so behind but this one is about a week or more ago.

Does anyone know why there is a delay this time please?

Turn off prompt update?

Now that PortableApps automatically installs updates, I am thinking I might as well turn off the option in Thunderbird to prompt when an update is available. Correct or am I missing something?

You should be fine to update

You should be fine to update as long as a new Thunderbird update does not change the way settings are stored. A minor "11.0.1" security update will not do this. This is the same for Firefox.

What I needed to know

I thought I remembered that such updates were OK, but I haven't been around reading the forums in a long time. Came to check on this exact fact. Thanks for sharing!

I am on a Windows Network

I am on a Windows Network Share, with the C drive and Registry locked out. I tried installing the update but now everytime I go to start Thunderbird Portable, I get an error saying the update could not be installed, to make sure there are no other copies of Thunderbird running on the computer (there's not) and to restart Thunderbird and try again.

The only thing I can think of is that the update is trying to Angel write to the C drive and/or (b) write to the registry.

I click on OK and Thunderbird then starts normally, albeit without the update installed.

Thunderbird downloads the

Thunderbird downloads the patch file (.mar) to the Windows temporary folder. It deletes the .mar file after it's done using it, but still requires the temporary folder as a save location. That's probably your problem, and I can't offer a solution other than manually upgrading or waiting for the PortableApps.com version.

I waited for the PortableApps.com version. Works like a charm now.

Install problem

Tried to install the version 11.0.1 over the version 11.0 in my programm folder named (c:/programme/TunderbirdPortable). But it isn't possible. The is a remark, that the folder is not correct. It's the first time i have a problem with updating an existing version of Thunderbird and Firefox.

Does sb know what the problem could be? Thks.

Like the new PA install Screens

This was the first app I've downloaded to upgrade from 11.0 to 11.0.1, so this was the first opportunity I had to see new PA install screens. I really like them. I know its cosmetic and probably psychological, but the impression was very slick and professional. Well done.
