The GPG extension for Thunderbird portable is not compatible with TB portable v12. I get an error when I try to open TB. If i remove the GPG folder in the App folder, TB will open correctly.

I just did an install of TB Portable 12, added in GPG and Enigmail and it worked just fine.
What exactly are you doing and what is the exact error message you are seeing. Also, full install path, operating system, etc.
Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!
but note, that you need to update the enigmail extension for version 12 thuderbird.
Just update all extensions and all should be OK.
How did you install the gpg and enigmail?

The only complain I would have to the current version of enigmail is that in thunderbird it tends to display wrong key id number after checking the signature.
Previous versions did handle this well.

It is the other way around: The Thunderbird 12 portable installer breaks GPG installation: The installer moved the "\Thunderbird Portable\App\gpg" folder content to "\Thunderbird Portable\~PRESERVEDIRECTORY3", so Enigmail can't find the GPG binaries any more.
After moving the contents of "~PRESERVEDIRECTORY3" to the gpg-folder, Enigmail works again. I hope that was the only problem created during the upgrade...
Just wanted to let the developers know that this problem is still not fixed. I just upgraded from 17.0.4 to 17.0.5 and the exact same thing happened: Enigmail did not work after the update because all files that belong into the "gpg" folder are instead found in "~PRESERVEDIRECTORY3" except for "gpg_readme.txt"
It's working fine here. The only reason something like that should happen is if the file is in use. I've only seen that during install with a badly run antivirus.
