It works fine here on XP, Vista and Windows 7, so there are no Vista-specific issues. And there are no open bugs for Songbird Portable, so it's not a known issue with others. That there's something up with your specific instance, either the setup itself or Songbird not handling it. Please create a bug report in the Other Apps support forum detailing everything you can (install path, upgrade vs clean install, OS, etc). Note that the most common Songbird crash (Songbird itself, nothing to do with the portable version) I've seen has been a Quicktime issue due to a corrupted Quicktime install. It happened on one of my Win7 boxes with an old Quicktime install. Since I never use Quicktime, I just uninstalled it. It worked fine from then on.

Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!

It seems DEP is killing the process instantly.

Windows wont let me turn off DEP for songbird, it says that it must run songbird with DEP enabled, in the solution center it says this:

How can I prevent DEP from closing a program I trust?
First, see if a DEP-compatible version of the program is available by visiting the software publisher's website. If the publisher has not released an updated, DEP-compatible version of the program, you can turn off DEP for the program that was closed. You will be able to use the program, but it might be vulnerable to an attack that could spread to your other programs and files.

But when i try to disable DEP for songbird windows tells me it cannot do so.

Similar problems that exist:

reinstalled DivX and Songbird started working so the problem had nothing to do with being a portable version but i was hoping this application would be good for streaming music from Jamendo's website but it doesn't stream the tracks directly into its own media player.

But Thanks JT
