The Splash image may look familiar. I wanted something good but couldn't design anything worthy.(Sorry John... I just loved your splash image) and don't worry The SWORD Project is under GPL

Zach,

I am creating a splash for you and modifying the script so it works properly. I will also host it.
Please contact me at cubegames[at]gmail.com
One thing: does it have any settings at all, because I don't see any being created?

Hello;

If you can provide a link to this sword portable. I would like to help test it. I use Online Bible which is not portable. Haveing a portable version would be better then my using a HTM file.

Only question is? Have you tried to add modules to the portable version yet.

I've added a few

I've downloaded different translations and a few reference works using the install manager in the Tools menu. Here are the ftp settings:

Site Name: CrossWire Bible Society
Site Machine Name: ftp.crosswire.org
Repository Directory: /pub/sword/raw/

I've only noticed one small issue; it doesn't remember your chapter and verse when you exit from the program. Other than that, it works great.

A few things

4 Things I'd like to see in the future for the Portable Sword project:

1) Remembering Book/Chapter/Verse on exit
2) Change Font Colors for each of the panels
3) Completely Hide and/or arrange the panels
4) The New King James Version...

Thankyou very much for your work on this project, I am happy to be able to have a portable Bible that I can bookmark, much easier then trying to use other tools for bookmarking and using an online Bible...

well

for the new king james version you can get that your self in the download manager inside the app folder. As for arrangeing the panels no can do. Sure it's GNU licensed and I got permission but by no means can I change the layout (Because I don't know who) and for font changing I think you can do that on your own. and Remebering the book, Chapter, Verse... Well thats still in the works

Almost....

I've figured out how to use the install manager, but I don't see the NKJV on the Crosswire Bible Society site, actually, I don't see the KJV for that matter... Is there a different ftp site I need to enter to access them?

I understand about not being able to move panels, but what about hiding them entirely, I know they can be resized now, but I'd like to be able to remove them from the layout entirely, if possible.

What I meant about the fonts is the individual module colorings. I use a black background with white text and yellow for everything else, but that gives me yellow text on a white background for the personal bookmarks panel... just wondering if more coloring options will be available in the next version.

Thanks for the help!

EDIT: Also, I've been looking for a way to convert from e-Sword to Sword Project, but haven't found it yet (can do vice-verca...), let me know if you find anything!

well

well you might have to go to crosswire and see what they have and get ftp settings from them. Personally I use the default and I found NKJV maybe they moved it

Profile?

First, thanks to all who have participated in making the Portable Sword a reality.

I had no difficulty adding the ESV text to my portable Sword, and notice that except for the last verse I am finding each of my settings to come over each session. However, at the beginning of each session I get a message that no profile exists and do I want to create on e on my flashdrive. I answer "yes", but it appears that a profile never gets written. Not a big thing, just a "nit", but does anyone have any suggestions on how to quelch this error? Once again, thanks.

I was wondering...

I was wondering... is it possible for you to upload it to another site, because I am on a computer on which I cannot use Mega Upload Manager (if I didn't search enough, and I can download it without the Manager, please tell me).

Can you...

Can you put it on another server (that doesn't require the downloading of things, like Mega Uploader). I am unable to download the Mega Uploader currently . Thanks.

Sure

I sure can. Actually I fixed a couple of things, Settings are remembered. it's not Portable Apps Menu Compatible as the app requires certain files and directories to be top level so I did that only for the launcher and in the menu it doesn't recongnize that it is running top level. so What I am saying is that it runs on it self and not Portable Apps Menu yet. I'll post the new link tommorrow as I have time then to do it

thanks

Just downloading this now - this is just what I have been looking for.

Perhaps it might be worth contacting the sword project yourself & explaining what you are doing & asking if they would host the file? They may so 'no' but they may be interested. A portable bible app on a pen drive would be a 'first' as far as I know & many people would consider it a great idea - well done!
