Account Settings / Junk Settings , changes wont stick

Hi,

Thunderbird portable, 12.0.1 .

edit: I run it on a win7 64bit PC, on the hd.
edit: incase it makes a difference, I am running 3 different (different folders) installs of TBP, all 12.0.1 . Of course only run one at a time, but I have soo many email addresses, I group them into one of the 3 installs to separate business, from private, from outside interests.

I've been trying to tweak up the handling of the junk mail.

All "Seems" well when I go into "Account Settings" , select any account, change the settings in "Junk Settings", and than click "OK" and close that window.
But when I go back in, I see it's all back to the default settings.
Where the only line "checked" is the "Enable adaptive junk mail controls for this account".

I've tried to do all my accounts , and click "ok" , tried just one at a time, none of the changes stay as I last left them before clicking "ok" .

Is there some other over all parent setting that is not allowing me to adjust settings at the account level ?

I've tried "Options / Security tab / Junk sub tab " and changed those settings around to see if they would effect my inability to change the choices at the account level, but can't seem to find any effect.
