howdya fellas!
what is the recommended or best cache size limit for firefox portable 13 whose folder is located not on a flashdisk but on hdd?
is it best to leave it as is which is automatic cache management?
or is it better to limit the cache size to something like 50 MB, 100 MB, 250 MB, etc?
got big enough hdd and free space & broadband connection.
please don't bother to say "what suits your needs is the best!" or something like that.
thanks.

recommended cache size limit for portable firefox 13?
I'd leave it automatic unless you have specific reason to change it. For example if you're running Firefox on a small flash drive and know you can devote a lot of space to the cache, you might want to set it larger than what Firefox would use on its own. I believe the automatic setting will use up to 10% of your free disk space.
FWIW: In my experience the Firefox cache can act strangely on flash drives. I've seen Firefox suffer major stuttering and seen the cache suddenly discard 100's of MB - no harm done mind you - Firefox continues to work - I just consider it strange.
thank you so very much, kevin.
but it may have escaped your notice that i'm running ff portable on hdd, not on a portable disk or drive.
so, does that make any difference, in that case?
thanks & regards
As long as your connection is solid, it should be fine. As to the exact size, it really depends on your needs. The larger you make it, the longer stuff will get cached. 50MB is plenty to keep your most common stuff in. But if you visit a site and would like the images and CSS to still be stored when you visit it again a couple weeks later, that's when a larger cache can be handy. So it's a storage space vs length of time things are cached thing.
Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!
My mistake - I misread your first message. My recommendation remains the same though. I'd leave it automatic unless you have specific reason to change it.
disable cache, use "fast dial" extension and keep on enjoying firefox
thank you mr haller and kevin.
