Since update 3.5.4.2 equations in LibreOffice Writer (Math equations) are ugly.
Some of the equation objects looked very wrong, but opening them up and closing them mostly fixed them.
The lines in square roots don't connect. There is a weird font issue, so the symbols just don't look as nice. Some of the parenthesis are far too thick.
I tried uninstalling and reinstalling LibreOffice. No luck.
Do you also see this issue in a normal install of LibreOffice?
If so you should report the issue to the LibreOffice developers instead of here, we can only help with issues that occur in the portable version and not the standard version.
I have the same or similar issue. I use LO protable on a Win XP laptop and use math extensively. With 3.5.4 when entering symbols like = or x (times) the wrong sysmbols appear (looking like very small floppy or clock face icon). I have had to revert to 3.5.3 which renders the symbols correctly. The normal install version of LO 3.5.4 works fine on both windows 7 and Linux (Xubuntu).
There is a font issue in LibreOffice Portable 3.5.4. Open up the directory App\libreoffice\share. Move the fonts directory from there to App\LibreOffice\Basis\share, combining it with the fonts folder there. It should work properly then.
Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!
That was exactly the information I needed. The fix works perfectly.
Thanks for your help. The ugly equations were making me sad. I was even considering (shudder!) switching over to Word.
Thanks for sorting this out so quickly. Just tried it and no problems.
