I would like to keep it "open" without having it "collapse" after choosing an App., and as I recall, it can be done with the addition of certain words in a P/A file. Does anyone remember this detail?

Advanced options for the platform.
I dearly wish it would stay up for half a second after clicking - so that I could click another app before it collapses. And then if I do click another app, then I would like it to give me another half second to click a third app if I want to.
This would save triggering the taskbar out of its auto-hide state, and then hunting for and clicking the tiny little icon in the system tray, and scrolling up to the next app in the menu, over and over again, for each of the half dozen apps that I want running every time I start work!
Yes I know I can change a flag and have it stay open until I click it shut - but that means that once I have my half dozen standard apps open, I have to click it shut, and click it open and shut again for every app that I want to run later on. That seems like more trouble than a few extra clicks to start off my day. (I am a person who auto-hides my taskbar even though I use a 2560x1600 screen - so I am not about to leave the portable apps menu open while I am working am I!)

Use Ctrl-Alt-Space to open and close the menu to make it easier. It's designed to be done quickly with 3 fingers on one hand and it doesn't require the task bar at all.
Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!
Right click the app and select "start automatically."
If you always start the same applications every time you start the platform, you can set them to run when you start. Just right-click on any apps you want to start automatically, and select the option to do so.
Using a combination of starting some things automatically and ctrl-alt-space to get at others will definitely ease some pain.
But still not as nice and convenient as being able to click,click,click down the list!
