I've been trying to use Firefox Portable at work carrying it on a thumbdrive. When I first starting using it I was able to keep bookmarks from one use to another. However, recently my bookmarks disappeared. They will save, but each time I disconnect my thumbdrive and move it to another machine or come back to the same one, the bookmarks are gone. Any suggestions?
This usually indicates corruption or another issue in a profile. It's not unique to the portable version... though it is more likely to occur due to unsafe ejects, etc. Details are here

Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!
I Know in my case the ODFReader extension would erase the history and my bookmarks.

try the googlebrowsersync extension from Google. It copies your cookies, saved passwords (encrypted!), and bookmarks to all your different firefoxes. I use it and it's great!

Wouldn't that be a lot of read/writes.
