Start Portable Apps menu from Dropbox

Hi John,

I just try out dropbox as a clowd to run Portable Apps in.
Is it possible to start the Portable Apps menu directly in Dropbox via web access and not from the local sync folder?
If I try so I get problems with finding the exe-files. This might be caused by the ini settings from the local sync folder. Do you have an idea how to solve this? Maybe relative paths might help but how does our platform handle this?
From the philosophy of portable apps it should be possible, shouldn't it?

Thanks in advance!

Sync Folder

DropBox's web interface won't let you actually run whole apps. Only a self-contained EXE since it downloads it and runs it by itself with none of the supporting EXEs, DLLs, images, config files, etc. So, you need to run it from a fully synced folder. Or, mount your cloud drive as a drive letter (which DropBox doesn't make available at the moment).

Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!

Any other clowd

Thanks for your quick response!

Dropbox is not a must here.
Do you know any other clowd that supports this?
That would be a great and confortable way to use Portable Apps.

FTP

You can map an FTP location to a drive letter in Windows. And I know there were hacks to use your Google mail space for this as well.

Keep in mind that it will likely be pretty slow in most cases. So, you should use your synced folders.
