Portableapps.com and Windows 8

Hi,

First, I searched and found nothing.

With the upcoming (and currently testing) windows 8, I have a question... Many of us uses portable apps instead of installed apps in our computers as a way to keep our registries clean, in my case, I also use portables apps to keep it in my D:\ partition instead of using my smaller c:\ one (this is because I have extra partitions for Ubuntu), and that way I can also use portable apps on linux (trough wine) if I need/want to.

I'm testing windows 8, and now I'm trying to figure out a way to do it, and that's why I came here once more to ask...

Is there any way to add PortableApps.com apps to the start screen in the metro UI that windows 8 is using? At least the PortableApps.com menu.

Thanks in advance for your answers.

Regards,
Aciago.-

Manual

It's a bit of a manual process as Microsoft has purposely made it easier to access 'metro' apps (what I call 'lite apps') as opposed to real apps. But you can follow these steps:

Solved

Thank you very much, that solved my question. I was also searching on google but all that I found was the standard procedure for installed apps... Sad

Can I suggest some of the developers that are reading this to create some kind of script that auto add PortableApps.com apps into Windows 8 metro start menu with metro style icons... Wink

Regards and thank you again.

If a packet hits a pocket on a socket on a port,
and the bus is interrupted as a very last resort,
and the address of the memory makes your floppy disk abort,
then the socket packet pocket has an error to report Biggrin

Metro Apps Only

Full metro icons are only allowed for Metro 'lite' apps (and all the limitations that go along with them). We may be able to automate something to 'pin' a real app to the Metro menu, though.
