Libre Office crashes with a space in the installation path

Hi John,

I dont know why it happens again and again that a new portable libre version is released but it do not start at all - instead it crashes at once.

Mainly the problem comes from installation path and as soon as we tell you the problem via this forum most propably a few days after you fix it.

I dont understand why the problem is not solved before the new version is released. Is it again and again another problem to be fixed?

Thanks for helping again.

This is a known issue

LibreOffice Portable tends to crash if the path is too long, or if there is a space in the path.
If you search the forum, you'll see that it's a known issue.
What is the path you are using?
Is there a compelling reason you are not installing it into the default directory? (X:\PortableApps\)

Yes, thats exactly what I

Yes, thats exactly what I mean. There are a lot of threads out there concerning this issue (also with posts from myself).

John solved the problem a couple of days later. So what I am asking is, if the fixes are not populated to following versions.

And yes: Iam using a path with a space in it, since all my portable apps are in this path including a lot of shortcuts. So I cant move that path.

Works Here

That exact path, I duplicated it right down to the drive letter, works perfectly fine here. Delete your LibreOfficePortable\Data directory to reset it. 3.5.4 was buggy (app itself) and left many settings our of whack.

solve

I dont think this can easily be solved as its not a problem of the portable verison but the normal, standard LibreOffice.

Long Paths and Spaces

As indicated in my above reply, long paths and spaces work perfectly fine and have for quite some time. In every version since it was fixed. There are OTHER issues due to LibreOffice itself and some settings issues it has. 3.5.4 had a pretty buggy extension handling resulting in crashes. Reset your data and it should work. If it doesn't something else is up.

In the future, please don't assume.
