What will become of Thunderbird Portable in light of Mozilla's new policies regarding Thunderbird?
Thanks!

but I assume it can have the same fate as SeaMonkey, right?

I would like to know what will happen.
But John wont desert Thunderbird, right? ..
Thunderbird isn't going anywhere. They're just not going to be invested in adding more features going forward on the side of Mozilla's paid devs. They will be continuing with security and stability fixes of both the 10ESR and 13 branches. The community is still free to work on additional features. Realistically, Thunderbird already has just about all the features you'd want from an email client, so this will likely have little impact on most users.

I, for one, will stick with the ESR versions from now on. Portable Apps should not tell individuals to stick with the rapid release versions IMO. Just my two cents worth.

Likely, the main track will simply slow down. They may keep upgrading the included gecko engine but won't be adding new features so the version will likely remain at 14.0.x. The 10.0.x ESR branch will likely continue as before and be folded into 14.0.x when its end of life is reached in February (each ESR branch has a built-in end of life).
