The Program Files directory

The Program Files directory is for installed apps not portable apps, because many portable apps will not work properly on Windows Vista or 7 when run from Program Files. Also a small number of apps portability will break on any Windows OS when run from Program Files.

So PortableApps now blocks all apps (not just IcoFX) from installing to, and running from, the Program Files directory.

simply move

all your portable apps to a directory on the root of the drive other then the program files.
Thats all.
Having portable apps inside program files folder is rather bad idea as has been stated already.

Some apps will also break on

Some apps will also break on Windows XP. Also, while some apps will look like they aren't broken (they still work, keep bookmarks and settings etc.) what will break is the functionality that makes them portable. They may leave files, folders and/or registry settings around the place, and if you don't really care about that you may as well just install the normal version of IcoFX.

As far as I know there is no way to overcome this limitation, except to regenerate the launcher yourself with an older version of the PortableApps Launcher that doesn't feature Program Files blocking.

Note that this is definitely not supported behaviour as doing so is likely to break the portability of a lot of recently released apps because they will rely on features that are not in the older PortableApps Launcher versions.

i definitely care aboout roge

i definitely care aboout roge files,
if there is a chance the apps will misbehave and leave regitry entries and files lying around when installed in the program files directory
it's definitly worth changing the folder.
thanks

Yes, there is

Several apps determine if they are portable or not by install location. It is definitely not ideal, but that is how the apps themselves are coded. So, create a c:\PortableApps folder and move all the portable apps into there. Your settings will be retained as you move. As a bonus, when you run a portable installer to upgrade or install a new app, it'll automatically find this location.

Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!
