The last time I looked at this site (June 2010), the platform and a large collection of apps were available in one download. This was very convenient but I no longer find such an offering on the site! Is this a thing of the past?

Now you download just the app, and then, you download all apps you want through it (Apps -> Get More Apps).

Rather than having a monolithic suite in just a few languages, we opted to let every user select exactly the apps they want as they install the platform. You download and install the platform sans app and as you run it for the first time, it will give you a list of all the available apps for you to pick and choose just what you want. That way, you're not wasting bandwidth downloading things you don't want and get to select exactly what you do want.
Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!
