Dual Wallpaper Portable 1.8 Dev Test 1

Application: Dual Wallpaper
Category: Utilities
Description: Dual Wallpaper simplifies the process of using images as wallpaper on multiple monitor setups.

You can have a single image which is spread across all of your monitors, or you can have different images on each monitor, or if you have enough monitors, you could say have an image spread across 2 of your monitors with another image displayed on the third monitor.

It also correctly sets the wallpaper when your primary monitor is not your leftmost or topmost monitor.

Looking good

I haven't run it, but have a couple of things to point out just looking through the files:

  1. In AppInfo.ini DisplayVersion should be 1.8 Development Test 1.
  2. You don't need your Installer.ini (based on the content of it) for an app that isn't multilingual.
  3. appicon_48.png is not part of the spec and will never be used. appicon_128.png is the optional appicon format.
  4. In launcher.ini your first DirectoriesCleanupIfEmpty should be redundant as the DirectoriesMove shouldn't leave \DualWallpaper behind.

Otherwise it all looks good. If I don't forget I will try it later on and report back.

Thank you! :-)

Thank you for the feed back!

1. In AppInfo.ini DisplayVersion should be 1.8 Development Test 1.

Done!

2. You don't need your Installer.ini (based on the content of it) for an app that isn't multilingual.

According to the doc on installer.ini it seems like I do. Unless I misinterpreted the doc. The doc says...

If this section is omitted, all languages are included. If this section is included, ENGLISH= is required. All other languages are optional and default to false.

Can you please confirm if I should leave it out all together?

3. appicon_48.png is not part of the spec and will never be used. appicon_128.png is the optional appicon format.

Done!

4. In launcher.ini your first DirectoriesCleanupIfEmpty should be redundant as the DirectoriesMove shouldn't leave \DualWallpaper behind.

Done!

Do I need increment the Dev version to 2, after making these changes? I am not sure since there isn't really any "bug" fixes.

I will upload the revised installer once I have a response.

Thank you again for looking at this!

It amazes me that on the internet you can be anything you want, and yet so many people still choose to be idiots.

installer.ini Optional

The entire installer.ini is optional and, if left off, it uses the language indicated in the appinfo.ini.

Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!

Thank you for the

Thank you for the clarification. In reading through the documentation, I did understand it was optional however the below quoted excerpt threw me off a bit.

Each entry is used to specify whether that language is available as a user is installing the portable app and appinfo.ini is set to Multilingual. If this section is omitted, all languages are included. If this section is included, ENGLISH= is required. All other languages are optional and default to false.

Perhaps the doc could be clarified for future newbie devs Smile

Edit: NVM I see after re-reading the quote I included, that it is clearly stated in the sentence before the bolded text above.

dev test increment

You should always be incrementing the dev test version anytime you upload a new build, no matter what the changes are.

OK will do. Should I go back

OK will do. Should I go back and change this one to Dev Test 2, or just leave it as is now that it is done?

Edit: And for future releases I assume I just change the title etc. of this post?

need help

This dual wallpaper changer is temporary only.
Whether I use on my USB or on PC.

USB - It only temporarily change background, as soon as I un-plug it, it will go away. Re-plugging USB will not show the 2 wallpapers set up.

PC - This is also temporary wallpaper changes. As soon as comp restarts, it will go away.

I am just about to head out

Sorry, I won't be able to look into this much for a couple weeks. I have not had any issue with this, however have you tried just saving the wallpaper from the app. Then you can browse to the save location, right click on it and then set as wallpaper.

If this does not work, let me know what version of windows you have, and the environment you are in (Administrator user, UAC turned on etc.). And I will look into it as soon as I can.

If you download the version for the official site, does that work for you?

You can also check the official app page to get contact info from the dev (although the app is natively "portable", he may not give too much support on the Portable Apps version here).

No problems now

Everything is okay now :). Thanks.

I don't remember what happened, but I went & got DisplayFusion to fix it up (thanks to the 1 day pro feature for first time download).

I realized this app is working as intended though, it should remove the wallpaper(s) when USB is removed / computer restarts. Not intended to stay on the user's comp permly.
