Chrome will not exit

I've done a bit of searching and I couldn't find any similar topics... So I hope I'm not beating a dead horse here or anything... But the chrome portable *I've tried with both beta and stable* will not close no matter how I choose to exit them. The process remains and can only be killed by... well killing the process. I've tried disabling everything I possibly could, I've tried it on my 16gb 3.0 voyager. My 16gb 3.0 store brand. and a 16gb 2.0. They all have the same problem closing chrome. If this is a known problem I apologise.... But I can't figure out why it won't close.

Have you tried disabling your

Have you tried disabling your antivirus during testing?

Some AV programs have been know to hold portable apps open longer than necessary (or indefinitely).

Just tried it, seemed logical

Just tried it, seemed logical because I use the same anti-virus on both computers I was testing with originally... But no difference... For a second this game me another idea but I've already forgotten it. =X

Edit: It was to try exiting with Display Fusion off but that changed nothing either.... Firefox portable will shut down... But I much prefer chrome...

extensions/plugins

What extensions and plugins do you have installed?

What is the full path to your Chrome Portable installation, and are you running GoogleChromePortable.exe or something else?

Try temporarily installing from scratch to the hard drive, and see if it works from there.

I tried with or without my

I tried with or without my plugins, so those are ruled out.

D:\PortableApps\GoogleChromePortable I've tried using the portable apps launcher and the GoogleChromePortable.exe

Haven't tried that last suggestion. Will try that and keep update.
Ok just attempted to install to one of my local drives and I'm still running into the same problem... GoogleChromePortable.exe*32 just sits there.

edit2: I'm looking at the included help file with chrome portable and it mentions some ways to fix things if this is happening. SHOULD PROBABLY go through those steps and see if that helps. Nope, nothing changed.

Possible feature

This is possible a new feature:

->Google Chrome (Iron or Chromium or portable or anything)
->Settings
->Show advanced process
->"running background apps when google chrome is closed"

As default, this checkbox is enbaled. Maybe on the new versions Google Chrome comes with some background apps. Please try Iron portable or disable this feature and restart Google Chrome by disabling all extensions and apps.

I've already tried disabling

I've already tried disabling that feature with no luck, I'm currently installing iron portable and am testing that. Will edit...

Iron is experiencing the same problem... and is also leaving background processes *Which chrome was not*

Workaround

I know this thread is old, but I am just putting this out there for anyone who googles in vain like me. I had the same problem with the process for ChromiumPortable not ending when the application GUI was closed.

Other threads suggested starting the app with --disable-plugins or --disable-background-mode neither of which worked for me.

Starting the app with the switch --incognito did work for me. Now the process closes immediately when the GUI is closed.

BATCH FILE RUNNING APP FROM NETWORK DRIVE:

CD /d H:\ChromiumPortable
SET "iniLine1=DisableSplashScreen=true"
SET "iniLine2=AdditionalParameters=--incongnito --user-data-dir=$(mktemp -d) --allow-file-access-from-files --app=%appPath%
