calDev/Provider for Google Calendar

Have folks use either of these extensions? I wonder if there is any impact on loading the calendar or Thunderbird because of it. I ask because with those two extensions, the calendar is on the google server, not local, so I was wondering if it made a difference.

no diff

the google calendar addon is kind of browser like window, you have then simply your google calendar in front of you similar like if you open it in a browser. This google calendar will not merge with the calendar of lightning by itself, it is just other tab and it opens only when you go to that tab and enter username /pw for the google account. It doe not do anything on start up of TB.

calDev is similar, it will call for calender on some exchange or so, but it does not do anything before you actually open it, then it will go and transfer the data.

Provider for GCal is not a browser tab

Otto: I think you may have got a bit confused there. Provider for google calendar is an extension by Mozilla for putting google calendar into your Lightning.

depends on

what version of TB are running it on

on earlier versions it was so, but since the 'provider for G' seems to be not existing for newer versions of TB, there are other google calendar addons which look different.

The current google calendar will open as separate tab (lightning will still be separate) and will contain the google items while the lightning will content the lightning items.
